ABOUT ZOYA

I grew up in the western suburbs of Melbourne on Boonwurrung Country, and travelled a lot when I was young. These experiences fostered in me an appreciation of people’s differences.

I lived in Canada when I was seven and made friends through art making, inviting my new classmates and neighbours over for drawing sessions. I found it was a great way to connect with people who had a different life experience and culture to my own.

I continue to connect with others through art. For me, making and exploring art with others is nourishing.

Qualifications and training

I have an Honours Degree in Graphic Design (RMIT) and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for over a decade. I still work with illustration, as well as ceramics and photography.

I’m a professionally registered Creative Arts Therapist (ANZACATA) with a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice (MIECAT). I also teach at The MIECAT Institute, facilitating in the Masters program of arts therapy.

I provide in-home arts therapy sessions to children and families on The Royal Children’s Hospital’s Paediatric Palliative Care Program.

I’ve worked with people with a range of mental health challenges. I’ve designed and facilitated arts therapy sessions for complex trauma groups, inpatients in Addictions Rehabilitation and Withdrawal Programs, as well as Day Program Arts Therapy groups.

I’m an NDIS Provider for Therapeutic Supports.

I’m based in Altona in Melbourne’s western suburbs, but also have a space for sessions in Fitzroy (not wheelchair accessible). I can provide online and in-home sessions to enable accessibility.

I love this work and every moment that I am fortunate to share it. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
